Practice MBE Day
I took my practice MBE yesterday. On the whole it went, I guess, pretty well. More score is only a little shy of where it ought to be and I learned some useful things. Among them:
- 200 questions and 6 hours is really long. I knew that, of course, but I definitely need to prepare myself for 3 days of that. I feel like I should start running up stairs or doing sit-ups or something.
- I need to remind myself to take my full 1.8 minutes per question. I did much better on the first half than the second half and the most notable difference is that I was going slower. (The room was also quieter, but I don’t see how that can have made my score worse.)
- I really need to remind myself about using prior consistent and inconsistent statements. I made a total mess of that. Repeatedly.
- There will be a few questions that seem like they couldn’t possibly be related to material we’re actually supposed to know. Don’t let them phase you (by which I mean me).
Overall, I feel more positive having taken the practice test. There are some things I need to remind myself of, but basically I feel like I’m on the right track. Just three weeks to go.

[...] Speaking of which, should I do the practice MBE? Is it crucial? Please let me know what you think in the poll down on the right and/or in the comments here. My BarBri course doesn’t offer a simulated MBE and I’m obviously not at the PMBR 3-day scarefest that started today, so if I do a practice MBE I’ll have to just do it on my own. Jeremy says it was useful and the Statute of Frogs makes it sound pretty worthwhile, too. Other thoughts? [...]
